SAQ® Coaching Courses
The Sports Partnership regularly host coaching courses in the SAQ® (Speed, Agility and Quickness) system of training. The course is delivered over a series of workshops by Jim Kilty of SAQ Ireland™.

SAQ® Foundation
The SAQ Foundation Course introduces participants to the SAQ training system in addition to the teaching of exercises and drills which will promote and enhance speed, quickness and agility. The objectives of the course are to:
- Introduce participants to the SAQ® system of training
- Explain the principles on which the system is founded
- Formally teach the first three steps of the system
- Demonstrate and teach exercises and drills which will promote and enhance speed, quickness and agility.
SAQ® Level 1
The SAQ Level 1 is open to all coaches who have previously completed the SAQ Foundation course. The objectives of the Level 1 course are to:
- Develop further the principles of the SAQ System™ of training.
- Examine, understand and appreciate the difference between speed and agility training
- Examine and develop the concept of agility training and its relevance to conditioning for sport
- Formally investigate and develop the theory and practice of speed development over 5 to 10 metres
- Demonstrate and teach further exercises and drills which will promote and enhance speed, quickness and agility.
- Assess the ability of each participant to understand the principles of SAQ® and deliver a SAQ® training session.

SAQ® Conditioning
The SAQ® Conditioning Course provides coaches with the opportunity to study the components of fitness which is an integral part of training for most field and court sports. The course also examines and studies the need for functional strength conditioning and core stability development. The objectives of the conditioning course are to:
- Examine and study the components of fitness.
- Examine, understand and appreciate the modern concept of multi-sprint stamina training
- Examine, understand and appreciate the importance of skill and ball work in the fitness programme
- Explain and teach the principles of power development
- Examine, understand and appreciate the need for functional strength conditioning
- Examine, understand and appreciate the importance of core stability development.
