Older Adults - Go For Life

The County Cork Local Sports Partnership is again supporting the “2007 Go For Life Physical Activity Leaders” (PALs) programme aimed at older adults. Over 60 PALS are trained each year in the form of workshops. The PALS then promote physical activity within their groups. A Sportsfest is held for participants when the workshops are completed. A Sportsfest is best described as a “Come and Try Sport” event for older people where participants get a chance to sample a range of sports and activities in a safe, sociable environment and have some fun.

Many active retirement groups now have trained PALS in their group. We are encouraging locally based mini Sportsfests where a few groups would come together so that not only PALs but also group members can attend. The Sports Partnership will support you if you get a few interested groups to come together to organise a Sportsfest.
